According to a probable cause statement, the child was transported to the hospital after her mother, Jean Louise Mangus, 29, and father, Scottie Briner, 29, said the child was “acting funny” and had possibly ingested something while playing outside. The child tested positive for methamphetamine and Oxycodone at Children’s Mercy.

This is the second time the child has ingested chemicals causing her to go to the hospital while in the care of Briner and Mangus. The statement says Children’s Division removed the child from the home due to unfit living conditions for anyone due to filth and bug infestation.

Briner and Mangus are charged with one count each of abuse or neglect of a child. Court dates for both are currently pending.
