BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. — The Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Buchanan County Wednesday evening.

According to an accident report, the crash happened at roughly 5:33 p.m. Wednesday on northbound Interstate 29 at the 43.6 mile marker, about four-tenths of a mile south of St. Joseph.

A vehicle driven by Ryan C. Sampson, 25, of St. Joseph, was reportedly following a car operated by 18-year-old Delaney J. Bates too closely when exiting I-229 onto I-29 northbound.

Prior to merging onto the road, Bates slowed and Sampson attempted to reduce his speed, however began to skid and struck Bates’ vehicle in its rear.

Bates sustained minor injuries in the rear-end crash. She was treated at Mosaic Life Care.
