The second-term lawmaker discussed the purpose of a bill he co-sponsored, H.B. 88.

That bill is now before the senate.

Rep. McGaugh notes that tax revenue is essential to fund projects and programs throughout the state, but delinquent payments from citizens can put a dent in budgets. McGaugh hopes House Bill 384, which was recently passed by the House, will get quick approval in the senate so residents can get square with the state.

Tax Amnesty periods have been used before in fiscal Years 2002 and 2003 which generated $116 million combined.
