Cameron Fire Confirmed as Fatality

Update: We have an update to the fire reported in Cameron this afternoon.  Officials have now confirmed the blaze as a fatality.  Victim identification and further details have not been given, but the Cameron Police Department is expected to release more information later this afternoon.  Officer Erin Chubick confirmed earlier in the day that it was believed to have been the A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair.  We will continue to bring updates as they become available.  Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Officer Erin Chubick:

On November 12, 2012 at approximately 12:27 PM, the Cameron Police Department received a report of a structure fire at the A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair located at 1520 Pence Road in Cameron, MO.  The Cameron Fire Department, the Cameron Police Department, as well as the Cameron Ambulance service were dispatched to the scene.  A fully engulfed machine type shed was located on the property.

It was reported to the Cameron Fire Department at the time of the fire that an individual might still be inside of the structure.  The Cameron Fire Department has confirmed one fatality.  The name of the individual has not been released at this time out of respect for the next of kin.

The Missouri state Fire Marshal along with the Cameron Fire Department and the Cameron Police Department are currently investigating the cause of the structure fire.

The Hamilton Fire Department, the Osborn Fire Department along with the KAW Fire Department assisted with this incident.

“At approximately 12:27 p.m., the Cameron Fire Department, along with the Cameron Police Department and the Cameron Ambulance Service were dispatched to 1520 Pence Road,” said Chubick,” This is believed to be the A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair.  We do currently have a fully engulfed machine shed.”

According to Chubick, both Osborn and Hamilton have sent fire crews to the scene.  A KMZU listener reported that there may have been someone living in the structure.  At this time, officials have not confirmed that everyone is safely out of the building. We will continue to bring updates as more information becomes available.

A KMZU caller has reported a structure fire east of Cameron on Pence Road.  According to the listener, the building is an old concrete plant, but currently has someone living inside of it.  Fire crews from Hamilton and Kidder are also responding to the blaze that reportedly broke out shortly after 12:30 this afternoon.  The Cameron Fire Department has confirmed the fire, but is not releasing further details at this time.  We will continue to bring updates as more information becomes available.
