Suspect Arrested in Chariton Co. Murder

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a murder in Chariton County that took place sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

According to the report, David Weil, 26, of Brunswick, was arrested Sunday and charged with the alleged murder of John C. Piper, 45, also of Brunswick.

Some media reports indicate Piper is the father of the suspect and was stabbed to death.

Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control are heading the on-going investigation.

Captain Sarah L. Eberhard, director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the arrest of David Weil for the murder of John Piper.

On Sunday, November 3, 2013, deputies with the Chariton County Sheriff’s Department arrested David Weil, 26, of Brunswick, Missouri, for second degree murder of John C. Piper, 45, of Brunswick, Missouri. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

The above charge is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
