Suspect held for shooting at Interstate 70 and Noland Road

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – A Pleasant Hill man is in custody for the deadly shooting on Interstate 70 near Noland Road, on Friday.

Independence Police began investigating after the victim ended up at a Quiktrip at 40 Highway and Sterling. Investigators discovered the victim had a confrontation with a man at a nearby gas station and identified a suspect vehicle. Witnesses told police a man abandoned the vehicle near the stadiums and ran into some nearby woods. Michael T. Dumas, 26, was found and accused of second degree murder and armed criminal action.

Police identified the victim as Phillip J. Anderson.
