A burglary in Oak Grove Thursday ended with a suspect being shot. Both of those suspects have now been identified.
Stephanie Mickelson, 41, of Richmond and Michael Swatosh, 32, of Butler, have each been charged with first degree burglary. Both suspects are scheduled for preliminary hearings on October 23rd and remain jailed on $25,000 bond each.
The two were allegedly seen burglarizing a residence on East Campbell Road north of Oak Grove and were confronted by the homeowners relative. As the suspects fled the scene they allegedly tried to run the man over so he opened fire.
Swatosh was apprehended on northbound 291 after a brief pursuit by authorities. Mickelson was dropped off at an area hospital with a gunshot wound prior to that and later taken into custody.

The suspects were identified as 41 year old Stephanie Mickelson of Raytown and 32 year old Michael Swatosh of Butler, Missouri. Both are currently in the Jackson County Department of Corrections after being charged by the Jackson County, Missouri Prosecutor’s Office.

Today, at approximately 4 PM, the sheriff’s office received a call on a burglary in progress. The location of the incident was in the 40200 block of E. Campbell Road north of Oak Grove, Missouri.
The suspects were reportedly seen burglarizing the home and confronted by a relative of the homeowner. According to the witness, as the suspects were leaving, they attempted to run him over. He then shot toward the suspects.
A deputy was near I-70 and M–291 when he observed the suspect vehicle heading north on M-291. After a short pursuit, the deputy was able to take the male suspect into custody.
At the same time, sheriff’s deputies received information a female had been dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
We have been able to confirm the female was involved in the burglary. Therefore, both suspects are in custody. The male was not injured.
