Residents of Sweet Springs may soon see an increase in their utility bills as the city moves forward with planned improvements to the Lagoon. The reason being the Lagoon project had no current funding.

According to a member of the Sweet Springs government a grant request to the Department of Natural Resources was recently denied.

In response the city has decided on a long-term loan that would result in a monthly increase of approximately $5. That change is expected to go into effect sometime in 2013.
