Teenager flipped car on I-70 near Sweet Springs, 4 occupants ejected

SALINE COUNTY, Mo.- The Missouri Highway Patrol, The Sweet Springs Police Department and the Saline County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one-vehicle accident that required multiple life flight helicopters early this morning.

According to the filed accident report, at approximately 12:13 a.m., Kristen Moore, 18, of Independence, Mo., was traveling eastbound on I-70 near the 68 mile marker when a possible defect caused her vehicle to skid and travel off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned multiple times four occupants in the process.

Along with Moore, Livia Halla, 17, Celia Rodriguez Arredondo, 17, Tobias Seek, 20, and Seth Steele, 19, all of Independence, suffered serious injuries as a result. Neither Moore or any of the reported occupants were reportedly wearing a seatbelt.

Rodriguez-Arredondo and Steele were taken to area hospitals by Life Flight and Air Evac. The others were transported by EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital, Centerpoint Hospital, and University Hospital respectively.
