The Chillicothe Street Department is working with Canadian Pacific Railroad to improve the third street railroad crossing in Chillicothe beginning June 25th. Click here to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott talk with Street Superintendent Barry Arthur:
“The Canadian Pacific Railroad came to me wanting to know if there was any way to improve their crossing,” Arthur said. “I definitely wanted to try to smooth this intersection up, so they will be raising the main track that runs through third street in Chillicothe.”
Arthur added that the street will close at 7:00 in the morning on Tuesday, June 25th. He also says the new crossing will be much smoother than the old one.
“We will have to shut down the road, of course. They will literally remove the rails, build up everything up underneath and then put it back,” Arthur stated. “They think their work will maybe take two days, and when they are done with their work I can get my crews back in there and pour the concrete back in to rebuild those approaches.”
Arthur asks residents to be patient as the Chillicothe Street Department makes the necessary improvements.
