SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — A crash on I-70 westbound resulted in injuries for three North Carolina residents in Saline County Monday morning.

The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to Interstate 70 westbound at the 70.8 mile marker around 6:50 a.m. Monday, where a pick-up truck operated by Kenneth Littlejohn, 68 of Shelby, NC., ran into the median after Littlejohn reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.

The truck traveled into the median, colliding with the median cable. Littlejohn over-corrected, causing the vehicle to go off the side of the road and strike a ditch.

Littlejohn and a passenger, an 8-year-old boy, received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. A third occupant, 32-year-old Mark K. Littlejohn, also of Shelby, NC., sustained minor injuries and was treated at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs.
