Registration is underway for the fourth annual Turkey Trot to benefit the Center for Human Service. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross speak with Development Director Susan Mergen:
The 5k run/walk will be held Thanksgiving morning in the Sedalia industrial park. All proceeds will benefit the Center for Human Development. “Primarily we promote and provide high-quality programs and services for people with disablities,” said Mergen, “We have the Cooperative Workshops in Sedalia and Marshall, which are sheltered workshops that provide work opportunities, and job prep, and training. We also have a family and child development department that hosts the Early Head Start and Missouri First Steps program, and we also have a large community living division, which provides a wide variety of independent living for people that need support in housing.”
Mergen said they raised about $8,000 last year. She’s hoping to have 500 participants this year. The cost to participate in the 5k run/walk is $20. The first 75 people to register will also receive a ticket to the Sedalia Country Club’s Ham Breakfast. The first 500 will receive a pair of gloves. Registration forms can be found at www.chs-mo.org.
