Update (4:30 a.m. Friday): Witnesses told police they saw a man and his daughter get out of their car, hug, and then jump into the frigid waters. Rescuers have not been able to recover the pair. Their identities have not been released.
Update (3:20 p.m.): The search for the two jumpers has been called off. No bodies have been found and is reported to be unlikely, given the weather conditions.
Original story: Both the north and southbound lanes of Interstates 35 and 29 at the Christopher S. Bond Bridge are closed as emergency crews attempt to rescue two people from the Missouri River. Kansas City Police received the report at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses told police that a man and a woman had jumped from the bridge. Authorities continue to search the water. Drivers are being asked to avoid the Bond Bridge.
