Two Killed in Fiery Crash

Two people died in a fiery crash early Saturday morning in Jackson County.  According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded at about 12:30 a.m. to a location north of Milton Thompson Road and Highway 50.  Authorities reported finding a vehicle on fire off the roadway.  The remains of two people were discovered inside.

Initial investigations show the vehicle was traveling south on Milton Thompson Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, went off the road, struck a rock, and overturned.  Authorities have not made a positive identification at this time.

On Saturday, March 14th 2013, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a careless driver in the area of M-7 Highway and Liggett Road in Blue Springs.  At approximately 12:30 a.m., as deputies moved closer to the area, they received a call regarding a vehicle fire on Milton Thompson Road north of Langsford Road.  The location is north of Milton Thompson Road and US 50 Highway in unincorporated Jackson County, MO.

Prairie Township Fire Department responded and immediately extinguished the fire.

Upon arrival of the deputies, they found a vehicle upside down off the roadway in the 10700 block of Milton Thompson with the remains of two people inside.

Initial investigation shows the vehicle was traveling southbound on Milton Thompson Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, went off the east side of the roadway, struck a large rock, and ultimately overturned.

Deputies will remain on scene for some time, and the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is being requested.  Identification and family notification has not been made as of yet.  Therefore, the identity of those involved and the vehicle description is not yet being released.
