Two-year-old ran over by tracked skid steer in Moniteau County

MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo.- A two-year-old child involved in an accident with a skid steer yesterday in Moniteau County was pronounced dead shortly after authorities arrived.

According to a release from the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office, deputies along with troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to Mullins Road just outside of Latham, Mo., on a report of an accident on a farm. Upon arrival, deputies located the two-year-old male, who had apparently been run over by a tracked skid steer.

Deputies learned that an 11-year-old male had been operating the skid steer in the front yard area of the residence and accidentally hit the two-year-old.

The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation at the scene, which has been ruled an accident. No other information is being released to protect privacy of the family.
