U.S. Senator, Claire McCaskill

Absent from the company of 15 Democrat senators to sign on to former presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders’ plan to expand medicare establishing a single-payer health care system, was one senator from Missouri.

Senator Claire McCaskill is not planning on changing her mind about not supporting legislation that attempts to expand Medicare from covering seniors, to covering every American citizen. A statement from McCaskill’s office indicated support of the measure would be irresponsible since it is currently driving the most debt. She also said the situation was financially unsustainable. A spokesman for McCaskill said the senator is still opposed to the bill which some estimates say will cost $32 trillion over 10 years.
