UPDATE — Preliminary hearing scheduled for Jefferson, will appear next month

UPDATE: 08/16/2017 10:21 a.m. — Louis Jefferson, 52, appeared before a judge this morning in Carroll County Circuit Court alongside counsel for a continued hearing.

Jefferson remains in custody on a $75,000 cash/surety bond at the Ray County Jail. He is facing 19 counts of sex-related crimes with a minor.

Court records indicate Jefferson is being represented by a public defender at this time. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.

CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. — A man accused of 19 sex-related crimes with a minor was arraigned in Carroll County Monday and will appear in a court room in Carrollton again Wednesday morning.

Louis L. Jefferson, 52, of Carrollton, Mo., was arrested Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Sedalia on charges including nine felony counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and five felony counts of child molestation in addition to four counts of second degree statutory sodomy.

KMZU News reported last week that Jefferson was accused of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a juvenile female spanning more than a decade.

Jefferson was placed in the custody of the Carrollton Police Department. He is currently being held at the Ray County Jail on a $75,000 bond, cash or surety allowed.

Jefferson will go before a judge in Carroll County Wednesday, July 19, 2017, for a hearing at 9:00 a.m.
