Vehicle Fire Stalls Traffic

Update (9:30 a.m.) – The Chillicothe Fire Department has released their report on Thursday morning’s vehicle fire.  The 2002 Kia Spectra burst into flames in front of Barnes Baker Motors on Washington Street at about 6:30 a.m.  It took crews less than 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. 

According to the report, the vehicle’s owner was driving near the Chillicothe Country Club when he said he heard the car backfire and then saw flames coming from under the hood.  The driver was not hurt.  The estimated damage is about $500.

 

Original story – A vehicle fire is reportedly blocking southbound traffic on Highway 65 in Chillicothe.  A listener said the vehicle is located near the Chillicothe Country Club.  Crews are on scene and are working to extinguish the blaze.  Drivers should find alternate routes.
