Osterthun said it is unclear when the decision for the grant will be announced. “Last year they made the announcement in April. So, it has just been a roller coaster. We have been in contact with State Representatives, and they have really just been making sure every applicant gets their clearances in. Once those clearances are in, then they will disperse the funds.”

Osterthun added no work can be done to the trail until the final decision on the grant is made. “About the only thing you’d be able to see if you drove by the hospital are stakes in the ground. That is basically just outlining the trail. We did this so the employees here and the community know that this project is going to happen. We have the funding to get it started, but right now we are just in a waiting game.”

The estimated cost for the project is $120,000. Joe Devorss Construction was selected to complete the work. That decision was announced in early May.
