A former NFL player and Lexington native, 41-year-old Warren Christopher Banks was found dead in his home in Abingdon, Maryland Wednesday morning. According to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office the death was reported as unattended and was not suspicious.
Formerly with the Denver Broncos, Banks was a member of the 1998 team that won Super Bowl XXXIII, according to Pro-Football-Reference.
In a statement released by Erich Schubert, Media Relations Manager for the the Denver Broncos, “The Denver Broncos are deeply saddened with the news that former offensive lineman Chris Banks has passed away. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
Banks was drafted as a seventh round draft pick in the 1996 NFL Draft Pick from the University of Kansas.
He debuted with the Broncos in 1998 and also played for the following season. He played with the Atlanta Falcons from 2000 to 2001.
Banks had served as a TSA agent at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport since 2008.
