Woman Charged with Murder to Appear in Ray Co. Courtroom
One of three people charged in the May 2012 death of a Richmond woman will appear in court Wednesday morning. Lauren Gabbard, 24, James Gant, 25, and Brandon Simpson, 25, are each facing one count of murder, burglary, and theft of a controlled substance. The three are accused of having a role in the death Michelle Rheuport, 40. Rheuport was found at her home in the 400 block of Farris Avenue on May 22, 2012.
Simpson is accused of taking electronics from the home and then killing Rheuport. Gant and Gabbard’s roles, according to court documents, were to keep Rheuport’s 17-year-old son away from the home. Authorities said a series of text messages implicated all three in the crime.
Gabbard will appear at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for a pre-trial conference. She is scheduled to go before a jury on Oct. 21.
