Tuesday is the final day to purchase tickets for the Women’s Club of Carrollton annual scholarship auction being held Wednesday evening. Click to hear KMZU’s Mandy Young talk to chairperson Peggy Glover:
All proceeds from the event will be used to generate scholarships for area fine arts students. Glover says they have a wide variety of items set for auction. “We have lots of craft and decoration items,” said Glover,” The silent auction and buffet will begin at 5:oo p.m. this year. We will be serving three types of lasagna along with salad, bread, and a dessert.” A live auction will follow dinner and the silent auction at 6:15 p.m.
According to Glover, the group distributes six to eight scholarships each year in varying amounts according to the amount of money raised. In recent years, the scholarships have been $1500 each.
Tickets for the event are $14 each and can be purchased from Mulch’s Country Mart or Shirley’s Shoes and Boots in Carrollton.
