The next hearing in the case against a Chillicothe resident has been scheduled.  Mark Woodworth is expected to return to court on July 26.  Legal teams are slated to discuss the defense’s supplemented motion for a protective order and sanctions when they meet at 1:00 p.m.

Woodworth was twice convicted in the 1990 shooting death of his neighbor, Cathy Robertson.  The Missouri Supreme Court overturned the second conviction and Woodworth was released from custody on a $50,000 bond.

A change of venue was granted during a hearing last Monday.  The case will now be heard in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court in Platte County.  The prosecution countered by requesting that a jury be called in from an outside county.  Platte County Judge Owens Hull Jr. didn’t immediately rule on that motion.  Also during the hearing, Woodworth’s attorney, Robert Ramsey, withdrew his motion for a protective order and sanctions.  He filed a supplemented request one week later and a July 26th court date was set.
