Young boy hurt in ATV crash Saturday succumbs to injuries

SEDALIA, Mo. — The Sedalia School District released a statement Monday saying that a seventh grader in the Sedalia 200 School District passed away from injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

According to the news release, 12-year-old Artyom Perchak was a seventh grade student at Smith-Cotton Junior High School in Sedalia.

He was involved in an ATV wreck Saturday in Boone County at Finger Lakes State Park. The Highway Patrol said the vehicle rolled over onto Perchak before he was flown to University Hospital in Columbia to receive care, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

The District will be providing grief officers to students affected by the tragic loss of Artyom, and extended condolences to his family in their time of grief.
