“Along I-70 we’ve had reports of light snow and sleet and then further South we’re seeing some freezing rain down around Springfield and we’re expecting that to move up into Central Missouri later this afternoon,” Pamela Marie – National Weather Service Meteorologist.
The weather system currently leaving measurable accumulation is expected to generally diminish West to East over the next 24 hours. A new system will move into the area on Monday and an additional measurable accumulation of up to 2 inches is expected. The persistent Polar Vortex that has brought so much wind and low temperatures over the past week is expected to diminish and return to a more normal environment as would be expected for this time of the year.
