Officials report the runaway barge on the Missouri River has been located.  According to law enforcement the barge is lodged in a sandbar two miles east of Lexington.


The barge belongs to Capitol Sand.  The runaway river container has already struck Ike Skelton Bridge between Richmond and Lexington.  Engineers have assessed the bridge and declared it safe for travel.   The Ike Skelton bridge is now open.

6:00 p.m.   A runaway barge is working its way down the Missouri River.  Ray County Sheriff Sam Clemens is on the scene evaluating the situation and potential damage to bridges along the Missouri River.
