HARRISONVILLE, Mo.– A 14-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Harrisonville High School in Cass County today.
The incident occurred this afternoon at 2:56 near North Halsey Avenue and Elm street. Highway Patrol reports Kane Lightcap, 17, was westbound, travelled off the left side road, struck a ditch, over-corrected and struck a pedestrian, Corey Turner, 14, of Harrisonville, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The driver did not have any injuries.

“The Harrisonville Police Department is assisting the Missouri State Highway Patrol with a fatality motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that occurred in the 1100 block of east Elm. The victim, Corey L. Turner, was a freshman at Harrisonville High School, was walking down a sidewalk on east Elm Street when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to Cass Regional Medical Center, where he passed away due to injuries sustained from the accident. Traffic is still being diverted from the area, where officers are working an active scene. Our thoughts and prayers to all those families affected by today’s tragic incident.”
