The 5th annual Champagne and Diamond Dinner and Dance is just around the corner and the registration deadline is nearing. “It is a wonderful evening,” Ferguson-Witt detailed the evening’s events, “After dinner we have the DJ spin some tunes and we get out on the dance floor and have a good time. Around 8:30 or so, we turn to Billy Penniston, he does the auctioneering of our themed basket auction, that’s always a really good time. Then we finish the evening with dancing until somebody wins the beautiful diamond necklace that was donated this year by Lauhoff Jewelry.” This year’s deadline date is Wednesday, February 18th.

The elegant evening full of dancing and friends is being presented by a very noteworthy organization with an outstanding mission. “The funds that are raised go to the North Central Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center,” explained Ferguson-Witt, “We serve 12 counties, pretty much all of North Central Missouri. We serve Caldwell and Carroll, Clinton, DeKalb, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Sullivan, and Putnam Counties. What we do is when there is a child that is suspected to of being either physically abused, sexually abused, severally neglected, or drug endangered and the children’s division, law enforcement, or the juvenile office is called in to investigate those allegations, they refer the children to come to our center here in Trenton. We do the forensic interviewing of the children and then turn that over to the investigators so that they can do their job. Then we follow the child and the non-offending care giver through the process and provide advocacy for them all the way through and help them get services they need. Also, here at the children’s advocacy center we provide professional counseling for the children to help them heal and move past the trauma that they have been through.”

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. and last until some lucky supporter finds a beautiful ½ carat Endless Diamond Pendent in the bottom of their champagne glass.
