A Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will be held tonight at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshall as a fundraiser for the Lighthouse Shelter. Shelter Manager Cory Peterson said it will be their second annual tournament and the funds will help support the shelter.

“The Lighthouse Shelter is a domestic and sexual assault shelter,” Peterson said. “We provide services for victims of sexual and domestic violence in Saline and surrounding counties.”

They are hoping for even a bigger turnout this year, but Peterson said last year was pretty good.

“We’d like to have a better turnout this year, but I say last year couldn’t have went any better,” Peterson said. He said they raised approximately $2,000 last year and have set a goal of $3,000 to $5,000 for this year.

According to Peterson, the cost is $30 to play and enjoy pulled pork, a silent auction, and 50-50 raffles. The cost is $15 to get in the door.

The doors open at 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1267 S. English Avenue in Marshall.

The Lighthouse Shelter is located at 555 West Arrow in Marshall and the phone number is 660-886-9880. You can visit for more information. Donations are always welcome.
