school-bus-300x199KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Lone Jack School District is taking time to warn parents of an attempted abduction Monday morning.

A statement posted to the district’s website indicated a man in his late 30’s to early 40’s pulled up to a bus stop and tried to get a student to get into his black pickup truck. The man had told the girl her bus had broken down and would not be coming for her.

School officials told the public the girl refused to enter the car. Law enforcement officers were immediately alerted of the situation.

Parents and students in any district should be aware of their surroundings. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to local law enforcement. Parents are also encouraged to have a discussion regarding school bus safety with their children.
