The seventh annual High School Holiday Hoops will tip off at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the gymnasium at the Ketcham Community Center on the North Central Missouri College campus in Trenton. The annual basketball event is sponsored by the North Central Missouri College Foundation Inc. This year, 83 high school boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams from 47 high schools are participating. A total of 59 games are scheduled over nine days, beginning Dec. 20 and continuing to Dec. 23, breaking for the Christmas holiday before resuming Dec. 26 and concluding Dec. 30.
Teams from throughout northern Missouri from small to large high schools are participating. The first out-of-state team is participating in this year’s Holiday Hoops. The boys’ basketball team from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, will play at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 22, against the boys’ team from Excelsior Springs High School. Another first-time high school is Imagine College Prep High School in St. Louis, Mo. This private school is sending its boys’ basketball team to play against Lafayette High School of Saint Joseph, Mo., which is returning for its second appearance in Holiday Hoops.
Basketball fans are welcome to attend any and all games during Holiday Hoops. Admission is $5 per session of four games for adults with students (kindergarten through college) $3 per four-game session and children preschool and younger admitted free. Passes for all 59 games are available for $70 for a family, $40 for a single adult and $30 for students.
