The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the nation’s highest and most prestigious honors for teachers of mathematics and science.

Each year, Missouri teachers have been awarded, further presenting our state as a great place for leading education in somewhat harder fields of study.

This year, two great teachers, Kathleen Dwyer of Maplewood Richmond Heights School District and Ruth Knop from the Parkway School District, brought home this credential.

Sarah Potter, the Communication Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, said this is great for schools and students, especially since one of the ‘Top 10 by 20’ goals is to have effective educators. Potter conceded these teachers are helping to further guarantee that standard and reassuring that Missouri students receive the best education possible.
