BOONE COUNTY, Mo.- A Columbia man was taken into custody around 3:00 a.m by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department on multiple felony charges following a vehicle pursuit.
Demarco Raydell Carter, 21, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, tampering with physical evidence, delivery/distribution of a controlled substance, careless and imprudent driving, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
According to the press release, a Boone County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop with Carter’s vehicle near the intersection of Snead Drive and Demaret Drive for a violation. Carter didnt yield and led the Deputy on a vehicle pursuit. During the course of the pursuit the Deputy reported items were being thrown from the vehicle.
Columbia Police Department deployed a tire deflation device which disabled multiple tires on Carter’s vehicle. He eventually stopped in a driveway on Mexico Gravel Road. Carter attemtped to flee but was taken into custody.
Further investigation turned up controlled substances that were located in the roadway along the path of the pursuit.
Carter remains in custody at the Boone County Detention Facility pending the filing of formal charges.
