The University of Missouri Extension Office in Livingston County is hosting a 4-H and FFA Livestock contest Saturday. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with Extension Office Youth Specialist Shaun Murphy:
Murphy says the event is a precursor for many youth participating in the State 4H Contest in September and for FFA members thinking of taking part in events this spring.
Murphy believes the participants sometimes surprise themselves with what they’ve picked up along the way as they’ve shown animals. He also believes the experience of reasoning and explaining their choices is invaluable for youth as their ability to communicate clearly is a major focus.
The competition is open to those ages eight to eighteen. Registration begins at 7:45 at the Litton Agri-Science Center at the county fairgrounds. For more information, visit the 4-H page on http://extension.missouri.edu/livingston/
