UPDATE: 11/13/17, 12:58 p.m. — The Missouri Highway Patrol has released more details regarding the crash involving a child in Moberly. 

A crash report indicates the accident happened on Burkhart Street just east of Morely Street in Moberly at 9:09 a.m. Monday.

A school bus operated by Shauntiel L. Lancaster, 39, of Moberly, was westbound when the bus struck a pedestrian in the roadway who failed to yield to the oncoming bus.

The report says that 5-year-old London M. Kariuki, 5, of Moberly, suffered serious injuries in the accident. she was taken to University Hospital in Columbia to receive care.


MOBERLY, Mo. — Police in Moberly were called to the 300 block of East Burkhart Street Monday morning after receiving reports of a bus involved in an accident with a child.

According to a press release from the Moberly Police Department, authorities were dispatched at about 9:09 a.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, an investigation found that a 5-year-old had been hurt in a pedestrian accident involving a bus, however further information about the incident was not released.

The child was injured, however the nature of the injuries were not disclosed. Moberly Police asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol and MSHP Accident Reconstruction to assist in the investigation.

The investigation is currently ongoing. Further details will be provided as soon as they are released.
