Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Marceline Chamber of Commerce Secretary Chris Ankeney:
Marceline will host their 53rd annual Peanut Night event throughout the day on Saturday beginning with breakfast at the VFW from 7am to noon. “From 9 to 5 there’s a holiday craft frenzy at the Walsworth Community Building,”said Ankeney, “They will also be serving food all day. Starting at 4 p.m., there will be at the downtown Knights of Columbus and at the Masonic Lodge free cookies, hot chocolate and coffee. They will accept free will donations for the ministerial alliance. ”
Peanut sales will begin in the downtown area around 5:30. “Every bag has a prize,” said Ankeney, “They’re only $1 a bag, so you certainly get your money’s worth with the peanuts and a prize. There are lots of good prizes and we bagged up around 2,500 a couple of weeks ago.”
Activities will then continue throughout the evening. “There will be a live nativity scene in Ripley Park,” said Ankeney, “There will be a Yule log burning in the park where you can warm yourself. Then at 5:55 there will be a welcome by our Chamber President and then the minister of the Assembly of God Church will give a blessing for the season and Santa arrives.”
