JEFFERSON CITY, MO   The Missouri Department of Conservation has released the number of deer harvested for the first weekend of firearm hunting.  The unofficial numbers are 88,843 deer harvested.  Hunters shot 51,086 antlered bucks, 8,115 button bucks were brought down, and 29,642 were does.

The three top counties for harvest were Franklin County with 2,078 deer, Texas County with 1,931, and Callaway with 1,735.

Hunters checked 10,627 more deer during opening firearm weekend last year.

The November portion of fall firearms deer seasons continues through Nov. 26. Archery deer season opens again Nov. 27 through Jan. 15, 2020. The late youth portion runs Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
