UPDATE: 10:25 a.m. July

Higginsville’s fireworks display is canceled this year. Concordia does not have a fireworks show.

Due to COVID-19, many events including Fourth of July activities have either been canceled or postponed. Here is where people in our listening area can watch the fireworks or participate in other festivities this weekend.

Thursday, July 2

Sullivan will be hosting a firework display at 9 p.m at Sullivan Fairgrounds.


Friday, July 3

Lexington: 8:30 at Lexington City Ball Field

Macon: The fireworks celebration will be held at 9 p.m. at Macon County Fairground.

Milan: Sullivan County Country Club will host a fundraiser at 7 p.m. and a firework display at dark.

Tipton: A firework display will be at 9 p.m. at Tipton Country Club.

Trenton: The firework display and a viewing will be hosted by Black Silo Winery at dark. There will be music and food at the venue from 5 – 10 p.m. Attendees can bring blankets or chairs, sit in their vehicles or sit on the winery’s patio.


Saturday, July 4

Boonville: Firework display will be at dusk at Kemper Park right of Katy Trail.

Carrollton: Fireworks will be hosted by the Carroll County Fire Department at 9:45 p.m.

Chillicothe: Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. The display will be on the south end of town and visible from up to a mile away. Spectators are encouraged to watch from their vehicles. The Patriotic and Country concert will also be at 2 p.m. at Jenkins Expo Center.

Excelsior Springs: The Elms Hotel and Spa will be hosting a fireworks display at 9 p.m. The show will be best visible from downtown Excelsior.

Grant City: Fireworks will go off at dusk at Grant City Golf Course.

Green City: Fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Lathrop: Display will start at dusk at Lathrop Showgrounds.

Marceline: Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.. at Country Club Lake. It is asked that attendees bring lawn chairs and respect social distancing.  All day activities will start at 10 a.m. with Toby’s Amusement’s Concession trailer. The Marceline Fire Department will be cooking burgers in front of the station at 2 p.m.

Marshall: Fireworks will be at dusk at Marshall Parks.

Moberly: Community events begin with a 5k at 8:30 a.m. at Rothwell Park, Howard Hits Athletic Complex. The firework display will start at 9:40 p.m.

Oak Grove: Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. at Bent Oak Park. The gates of the park will open at 5:30 p.m. for other activities.

Plattsburg: Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. at Perkins Park.

Pleasant Hill: Fireworks will be at 9 p.m. at Skyline Field. Spectators are asked to respect social distancing.

Sedalia: Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Missouri State Fairgrounds

Slater: Firework display will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Slater Airport

Smithville: Fireworks will begin at dusk at the Smithville Lake

Warrensburg: The city will be hosting the Patriotic Children’s Parade at 10 a.m.

Warsaw: Fireworks will be held at dark time at Drake Harbor.

Weston: The Weston Masons Lodge and Chamber of Commerce will host this year’s fireworks display. People can watch the display at dark from Main Street.

Windsor: Daytime events will begin at 8:45 a.m. at Farrington Park. Fireworks will begin at dusk.


Sunday, July 5

Chillicothe: The Rockin’ Country Variety Show will be at 3 p.m. at Jenkins Expo Center.

Jamesport: Daytime events and music will begin at 2 p.m. at the Jamesport City Park. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
