POLK COUNTY, Mo—The Missouri Attorney General handed down a guilty verdict Friday to a man accused of defrauding the elderly.
In a press release from the office of Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Polk County jury found Timothy Mundy guilty of Financial Exploitation of the Elderly and Unlawful Merchandising Practices. In January 2016 Mundy took $6,250 from an elderly homeowner in exchange for carrying out the installation of a roof on the man’s property. The court states that Mundy never returned to install the roof. The state plans to sentence Mundy on Jan. 17, 2020.
In 2017 Mundy lost a civil case involving this instance of fraud and numerous others. At that time Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley ordered Mundy to pay over $640,000 dollars in restitution to those he deceived.
