CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. – On Monday, December 28th, around 3:08 in the afternoon, the Carrollton Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in rural Carrollton.
Hazardous weather conditions inhibited their response to the scene, where they found a two story house engulfed in flames. A mutual aid tanker responded from the North Central Fire Protection District to provide additional water, but the home could not be saved.
The structure, identified as the Staton home, is a total loss, but everyone got out and no injuries were reported. Fire Chief Lonnie Sensenich says: “the cause of the fire has not been determined, yet.” Firefighters made a return trip to the residence late Monday night to extinguish a flare up.
Investigators plan to return to the scene once it has cooled to search for the origin of the flames.
