A former international student charged in the death of a Warrensburg business owner will go before Johnson County Judge Michael Wagner Monday afternoon for a trial setting. Ziyad Abid, 23, a Saudi Arabian national, is accused of allegedly hiring co-defendant, 27-year-old Reginald Singletary to murder 25-year-old William “Blaine” Whitworth last September. Whitworth’s body was found on Sept. 1 in the driveway of his home. Both men are now charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Abid’s trial begins at 1:30 p.m. Singletary is set for a pre-trial conference August 5th.
