SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Marshall who was released on bond for a murder charge has returned to jail after a court found him to be in violation of the conditions of his release.

Court records show that a warrant was issued for James Scott Miller, 55, on Wednesday after the alleged bond violation was uncovered by investigators. The documents did not give details regarding the violation.

Miller is accused of shooting and killing Joshua Charles Smith, 31, at a residence on Viking Lane in Marshall on December 29, 2018.

Miller is formally charged with murder in the second degree and armed criminal action over Smith’s death. He paid, in full, $500,000 bond January 2 to secure his release.

Miller’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30 at 9:00 a.m. in a Saline County courtroom.
