Awards are given in each state to students who achieve high sc0res on advanced placement exams. One male and one female from each state, including Missouri, receive recognition when they earn the most scores with an average of at least 3.5 on all Advanced Placement Exams.
The winners are:
Matthew Chan of Ballwin, Mo. from Marquette High School
Lydia Fletcher of Fenton, Mo. from Rockwood Summit High School
Communications Coordinator with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Sarah Potter, spoke with KMZU about the students and the program.
A statement issued by Missouri Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven congratulated both students for their “hard work and success.” She further added, “AP classes provide an opportunity for students to take rigorous college-level coursework while still in high school.”
