Last week the US Department of Labor modified thier plans to regulate where and what work children may do on farms. In an interview this morning with KMZU, US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said he was pleased the D.O.L. is revisiting the issue.
Vilsack says the USDA will remain involved in the matter as duscussion continues..
During a public comment period, farm groups, politicians and producers pressured the Department of Labor to ease restrictions. According to the agency a new proposal will be released this summer, followed by another comment period.
