accident 3COLUMBIA, Mo. — Alcohol may have been a contributing factor to a one vehicle accident in downtown Columbia early Tuesday morning.

According to the Columbia Police Department, Deven Larry, 20, of Columbia was headed east on Broadway near Ann Street around 1:04 a.m. Tuesday. Larry lost control of his car, began to skid and crossed in the opposite lanes of traffic. Larry’s vehicle eventually struck a curb and a light pole before coming to rest.

Neither Larry nor Daryl Richardson, 20, also of Columbia, were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Columbia Police Department believe excessive speed and alcohol could have been potential contributors to the accident. An investigation is still ongoing.
