CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. — The all-clear was given shortly after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a possible kidnapping.
A news release from the Sheriff’s Office reveals that at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office was informed of the potential kidnapping at the Casey’s General Store in Norborne.
The reporting party stated they witnessed a white female child that matched the description of a missing child out of Kansas, and that the suspect’s dark Dodge Challenger with Kansas tags was headed west towards Richmond.
When a Ray County deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, the male suspect was identified as the child’s biological father.
He claimed that he and the child’s mother exchanged the child at the Casey’s and she was now heading home with her mother. The Chariton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Carroll County officials, and it was verified at approximately 12 p.m. Sunday that nobody was endangered, missing, or held against their will.
