An Alma man has been arrested after a search warrant was served at his home this past week.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the warrant served on June 6th by members of the Lafayette County Crisis Action Team, allegedly led to the discovery of drugs, paraphernalia and firearms at a residence in the 28000 block of Goodwin Road in rural Alma. The warrant was issued following an investigation by the Lafayette County Drug Task Force.

Dennis A. Schmalz, 61, was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts of distribution of a controlled substance, maintaining a public nuisance, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Schmalz is reportedly still in custody on a $100,000 bond.
