CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. – A two day jury trial ended late Friday, January 19, 2018, with the conviction of a Clark, Missouri resident in Chariton County.

Alonzo Bernard Thorpe was found guilty of eight counts of child molestation and two counts of child enticement which originated from a string of sexual assaults against two Randolph County children from April 2011 to February of 2014.

The children and infant sister were removed from their home Valentine’s Day 2014 in a domestic assault investigation.  The following August, two of the children began to disclose abuse to a foster parent and then a counselor.  Local investigators were brought in with a forensic interviewer from the Child Advocacy Center in Columbia, Mo.

Thorpe was charged in Randolph County but requested a change of venue to Chariton for the jury trial.

Thorpe’s bond is now set at $50,000 cash only and he is scheduled for sentencing March 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Chariton County.
