MISSOURI — Cold, wintry weather paired with cold and flu season have resulted in a shortage of blood donations in Missouri and the American Red Cross says you can help.

KMZU’s Brian Lock spoke with Joe Zydlow, Communications Coordinator for American Red Cross of Missouri and Illinois, who said donating blood is as important as ever – and your donation could help save the lives of up to three people in desperate need of healthy blood.

Every year, blood donations fall off in January and February, however this year, the issues are compounded by flu and cold season. In addition, multiple inches of snow and ice have been seen across Missouri this Winter.

There are a number of blood donation opportunities across the KMZU listening area in the coming months. Check out the KMZU Community Calendar for a full summary of blood drives.
