AVA, Mo. (AP) — Two suspects in the stabbing death of a 17-year-old southwestern Missouri boy will be tried in different counties. A Douglas County judge granted change of venue requests for two men accused of killing Kenny Tout last December. Christopher Jorgensen will be tried in Henry County and Nathan Jensen will be tried in Pulaski County.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill is attempting to appeal to Missouri veterans in her re-election campaign. The Democratic senator will be joined by her mother today at a St. Louis event highlighting her efforts to improve benefits for military members returning from duty. Her Republican challengers this year include Sarah Steelman, John Brunner and Congressman Todd Akin.
JACKSON, Mo. (AP) – The bargain hunting has begun for thousands of shoppers who will spend the weekend prowling a section of Highway 25 in southeast Missouri. The 100-Mile Yard Sale began yesterday and lasts through Monday. The series of rummage sales stretches from Jackson to Kennett.

(AP) – The Missouri House has spent more than $1,100 in taxpayer money on a security camera to keep watch over a newly installed bronze bust of conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh. The hall features dozens of statues of people including President Harry Truman, Walt Disney and former Cardinals baseball star Stan Musial. But only the bust of Cape Girardeau’s most famous son has its own security camera.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) – Police in St. Joseph are praising three citizens who prevented a distraught woman from jumping off a heavily traveled bridge into the Missouri River. The 41-year-old woman had already climbed onto the railing on the Pony Express Bridge when the three rescuers pulled over around 7:30 a.m. yesterday. Dave Williams, Heidi Utt and Marilee Dishon, all of St. Joseph, grabbed the woman’s arms and legs and held on until police arrived.

The demonstration last night was in response to police actions at the NATO summit in Chicago. A St. Louis police bicycle officer suffered a minor hand injury when confronted by protesters.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri Department of Conservation says people will be able to fish for free during a weekend in June. Wildlife officials are suspending permit requirements on June 9th and 10th as part of an annual effort to encourage more people to explore the sport.
LAKE OZARK, Mo. (AP) – The annual spring cleanup on the Lake of the Ozarks shoreline is over, and the sponsoring company says this year’s effort was a record-setter. Ameren Missouri says a record 74 groups of Adopt-the-Shoreline volunteers removed a record 48 tons of trash and debris.
